"Best Portuguese Red Wine of the Year " SIVIPA'S Serra Me Brings a Grand Gold from Mundus Vini 2013

Sivipa has won the award for best Portuguese red wine of the year in Germany. The wine awarded was Serra Mãe Reserva 2009, the only Portuguese wine with the most coveted gold medal in Mundus Vini 2013.

The prize "Bester Rotwein Portugal " was announced at MUNDUS VINI 13th Great International Wine Awards held in Neustadt, Germany. Between late August and early September, about 250 members of a jury of 45 countries evaluated wines from all over the world. This year, the jury awarded 30 Grand Gold Medals, 1,142 Gold Medals and  1,601 Silver Medals.

Serra Mãe Palmela DOC wine, whose name was inspired by a famous poem by Sebastião da Gama, is produced from the oldest vines of grapes Castelão (Periquita) planted in typical sandy soils by the method of integrated production. The vinification follows the traditional process of Palmela, with auto-vinificadores, at an average temperature of 25 º C and long maceration, in order to extract the maximum amount of color matter and tannins.

In previous years, Serra Mãe has been awarded and won a Silver Medal in the local Bottled Wine Contest CVRPS and the Gold Medal in Vinalies Internationales in Paris, 2010.
