Sivipa Harvests Gold In Brussels & Portugal

SIVIPA confirms the virtuous cycle initiated two years ago with a new crop of gold awards.

Among the wines now awarded stands out Ameias Syrah, with a Grand Gold Medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles and Uva de Ouro/Golden Grape - Excellence in Portugal. Other wines awarded were Terras do Sado Red and Serra Mãe Reserva.

Ameias Syrah 2014 stood out at the results of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles announced on May 8, being the single Setúbal Peninsula wine to win a Grand Gold Medal. From the same vintage, Terras do Sado Red was awarded with a Gold medal. Overall 8020 wines from around the world were tasted on 1, 2 and 3 May, in Jesolo, Italy.

At the same time in Portugal, SIVIPA Ameias Syrah 2013 lengthened its already long history of awards. On May 10 it won the Excellence Uva de Ouro/Golden Grape prize, along with the Serra Mãe Reserva 2013, a DOC Palmela awarded with the Golden Grape Award for Best of the Region after a blind tasting of 360 wines under the direction of notable oenologist Aníbal Coutinho.

It is worth noticing that Ameias Syrah was elected "Best Setúbal Peninsula Red Wine" last year and Serra Mãe Reserva 2009 was elected "Best Portuguese red wine of the year" in 2013 in the prestigious Mundus Vini. The awards are all the more extraordinary as SIVIPA’s promise is to share the best of Palmela region at affordable prices.
